Moms' Time Notes - May 3, 2013


Announcements:

·       Pay Lisa A. $12 for advancement night food if you have not already done so. Make checks payable to Lisa A.. Put these in her mailbox by Friday (5/10) at the very latest.
·       Graduate moms, pay Char M. $15 for the graduate gift. If you pay her by check, please make checks payable to Char M. Money due on 5/10.
·       There is a signup sheet in the moms’ room to work the used curriculum sale, which is Saturday June 15.
o   If you work, it will be for set-up on Friday from 5p.m. to 8 p.m. and all day on Saturday unless you make prior arrangements to work on Saturday only.
o   Sellers get first choice of any sale items.
o   If you sign up to work, someone will need to watch your children for the day. During the set up and after the sale, no children will be allowed in the sale area.
o   Children may come in with your husband or other responsible adult during the sale. Make sure that they understand that you are working and busy.
o   Next week is the last week PSP members will have priority as a seller or a worker.
§  If you are interested in selling, turn in your seller registration by next week to Christine R.
§  If you are a seller, you must purchase removable labels (make sure the labels specifically say “removable”).
§  Put your assigned seller initials that you will receive when registering, on the label along with the item’s price. Aim for garage sale prices.
§  Remember, there will probably be similar items for sale.  Overpriced items may not sell.
o   There is a 10% fee to sell if you are not in PSP. If you are a member of PSP, there is no fee to sell.
o   There are approximately 200 people buying and selling from outside of PSP.
·       Check for a signup sheet in the moms’ room for the end of the year luncheon. Everyone will be bringing something.
o   There are three weeks until the end of the year luncheon.
o   Everyone will be leaving at lunchtime on this day.
·       There are tape and a marker on the food table. Mark your dishes with your name when you bring them. Remember to take them home with you at the end of the day.
·       Make sure that you check e-mails on a regular basis. That is the primary method of communication for PSP.
·       There are two more weeks of Grace Grill.
·       For next year’s classes, there are still a few slots that need to be filled in.
o   A game strategies class will be completely designed, but there need to be a couple of teachers to be in the room to facilitate and supervise. All the preparatory work will be done for you. (If no one steps up, we cannot have the class)
o   If no one is interested in supervising the games class, Angela DeMoura would be willing to run it if someone else would like to volunteer to teach the Apologia class.
o   PE classes for 4th grade and above or on hold for now.
·       The registration cost for new families is $100 per child until the end of May. New families should hear within a few weeks. As of right now, there are 8 new families and 4 families deciding.
·       In two weeks, the teachers for the various classes will be giving a presentation at moms’ time. They will be discussing curriculum and approximate supply fees for the classes.
·       SAT results could be back to us in the next four or five weeks
·       The end of the year park day is coming up on Saturday, May 24 at Veterans Memorial Park. Look for an e-vite so you can RSVP and sign up to bring something.
·       Next week, Brenda Frields will be speaking on raising the next generation. She will discuss parenting and would like you to come with questions.
·       Jocelyn D. has made herself available to any PSP moms who would like advice/counsel….See the email for her phone number and email.
